Our journey began with a flight from TLV to Roma at 6:30AM. Alitalia did not fail to live up to their reputation as our bags never showed. After filing a lost baggage report and a 30 minute train ride, we arrived at Via del Moro 2, the apartment we rented from Airbnb. The small Roman apartment had open windows to see and hear the streets of the Trastevere neighborhood and graffiti on the door which is almost expected in Rome.
If our baggage trouble wasn’t enough, as soon as we attempted to leave the apartment, the padlock jammed. Nerina, the landlord, returned to assess the situation. In our limited Italian and her limited English, we managed to understand that she was going to come back in 2 hours because a locksmith was in need.
