After being turned away from two over crowded Romana cucinas, we found a place called Settimio al Pelligrino which was frequented by mostly locals. We felt a bit like outsiders as the owner/waiter ignored us for 20 minutes. Most of the locals were around their 50-60’s and appeared to have been regulars for years as everyone knew each other. The restaurant is run by an older couple. As the wife prepares classic dishes like spaghetti pomodoro and roasted veal, her husband services their long time customers. We met another just married couple outside of the restaurant who were recommended to the place by a food tour. What luck that we found this trattoria without the help of a tour guide; validation that it was an authentic and tasty experience.
